Limited Brands Donates $1 Million to Audubon Nature Center

In the near future, children and nature enthusiasts soon will be watching birds and enjoying a pristine nature environment along the Whittier Peninsula in Columbus - thanks in part to Limited Brands, Inc. As part of the company's commitment to environmental stewardship, Limited Brands has donated $1 million to the state's first nature center being developed by Audubon Ohio along a site designated as an "Important Bird Area" of critical habitat.

With Limited Brands contribution, more than $7 million had been raised in support of the Whittier Peninsula Audubon Center, according to Heather Starck, the center director. She said that the funds raised to date "is a great accomplishment," and proves that "our community believes in the center."

Through the establishment of an Audubon Center at the Whittier Peninsula, Audubon Ohio strives to provide urban nature programs and learning opportunities within walking or biking distance of children and families living in the city. While offering nature education and greenspace experiences for some of the city's traditionally underserved neighborhoods, the Columbus Audubon Center would protect critical wildlife habitat for generations to come.
