Limited Brands "Adopts" Hundreds of Moms for Mother's Day

Columbus, Ohio — In 2007, Mother's Day wishes came true for more than 16,000 moms who received gifts courteous of Limited Brands associates. This year, associates across the business from our home offices and stores were given the opportunity to donate a gift and put a smile on a mother's face

For the past eight years, Limited Brands' "Adopt-A-Mom" program has touched the lives of thousands of mothers who are being served by area domestic violence shelters and may not be remembered on Mother's Day. We partner with United Way agencies and other non-profit organizations around the country who are serving mothers in need within the communities where we operate. We adopt these mothers by giving gifts such as lotions, cosmetics, towels and bed linens donated by our associates to recognize these moms on this special holiday.

"I am truly appreciative of the gifts given to us by Limited Brands this Mother's Day," said Angela Webb. "Some mothers would not have received anything had it not been for the gifts given at this year's brunch and the Gift Bag Giveaway at the Family Center. The Brunch and Gift Giveaway made myself, as well as all other mothers, feel special and loved. And for that, we thank you so much."

The Limited Brands "Adopt-A-Mom" program is an extension of the Giving Tree where company associates--working in conjunction with area shelters--"adopt" families during the holidays, to provide them with gifts, toys and books. Since its inception, it has made a tremendous impact on our associates that every year they look forward to touching one more life with a gift.

"We look forward to this program every year because we have been told by numerous agency directors that not only do these gifts put a smile on the moms' faces at Mother's Day, but they help boost their self-esteem and encourage them to continue the process of getting back on their feet," said Janelle Simmons, manager of community relations, Limited Brands. "Through the agencies, we gather "wish lists" from the mothers of gift ideas they would like to receive on Mother's Day, and our associates make it a reality."

Dozens of United Way agencies and other non-profit organizations around the country help to coordinate the gift-giving by identifying women's shelters in their respective cities.
