Rio Rancho Associates Honor the Memory of Coworker in Local Race For The Cure

November 02, 2009

Thousands of people participated in the Komen Central New Mexico Race for the Cure on September 13 in Albuquerque. For the team of over 550 Victoria's Secret Direct associates, this year's race was particular special, as the team dedicated their participation Anne Murray, an associate who died in May 2009 of breast cancer.

Victoria's Secret Direct sales director Bev McMillan said Murray worked for the company for five years and described her as compassionate.

"What I liked about her was how she extended herself to everyone here as far as helping them," McMillan said. "She was just an overall great person. She never met a stranger and she was a significant key in our business. "

Once again, Victoria's Secret Direct had the largest team received a Life Time Award as they have won the Team Challenge for the past seven years.

"It makes me feel really proud that the associates feel really good about the community and giving back," McMillan said. "They give back unconditionally. That's how I view it."

Murray's family came in from Arizona to participate in the race, and the team presented them with a dedication board in memory of Murray signed by all the associates.

In addition, Limited Brands donated 300 Victoria' Secret cosmetic bags to Komen Central New Mexico for all the breast cancer survivors and passed out 3,000 Victoria's Secret Pink dogs to race participants the day of the race.
